DBTC- MAP STANDARDS
Maps submitted to website are
expected to adhere the these minimum standards:
. Map must have enough detail to be useful – a street grid must be shown
. Map must have start location and the route highlighted – no confusing markings
. Map must not be hand-drawn or contain minimal geographic content – no sketch maps
. No advertising on map – commercial locations may be noted as landmarks
. Map must be legible – no very low resolution graphics
. Map file may display text description of route
. Color or B&W graphic is acceptable
. Acceptable digital graphics formats include: .jpg, .pdf, .gif, .tif or .bmp
. One file per map
. Maximum file size is 2.0 megabytes
- INFORMATION TO ACCOMPANY MAP
. Descriptive Map Name (e.g., “Golden – Bear Creek Park”) – 70 character maximum
. Route Profile: [Location – Difficulty – Distance] (e.g., “NW – 2 – 39”) - code explanation on website
. Comment including Start Location (e.g., “Start Crown Hill Park”) – 70 character maximum
. Author name (e.g., “Robert Jones”)
. Date posted (e.g.,”12/2007”)
- OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
. Maps can be posted by any DBTC member thru Map Manager*
(Map subject to deletion from library if original author is no longer a DBTC member)
. Before posting, Maps will be checked for adherence to Map Standards
. Maps will be reviewed periodically to ensure currency of information
