Wednesday, September 1st:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-25miles-SW Meet Patsy Venema (720.934.3498) at Hilderbrand Ranch parking lot, Jefferson County open space, 9880 West Deer Creek Road, Littleton 80126.  Ride into Chatfield Park, south to Titon Road and back. Picnic at the finish, a chair or sitting pad recommended since no tables are there. 


Friday, September 3rd:

9:00 AM FUN+-H3-29-W-+1453' elev.  "Idaho Springs to G-Town Ice Cream & Return"   MEET 09:00am, Roll 09:15am   Register only via TEXT to leader by September 2.  Meet Marilyn Choske (303-905-8510) for this Idaho Springs-to-Georgetown ice cream ride.  Drive/meet directions follow description.  Pedal on bikepath/trail thru Idaho Springs, onto Stanley Road to Georgetown.  DBTC will treat you for your ride efforts with an ice cream treat.  Return the same route.  CASUAL climbing pace to and ZIPPITY-DO-DAH descent pace from Georgetown.  Bring masks just in case.  Limit 10 riders, including leader.   Ride will not go if it is rainy or the forecast is for rain in morning.  Call the leader if in doubt.  DIRECTIONS: I-70 Exit 241. Take first RIGHT at the exit roundabout and follow the road up & over I-70. Just past the green sign, turn RIGHT towards County Road 314 (if you miss this turn, you're back on eastbound I-70!).  Turn RIGHT at the stop sign & continue to the ballpark ahead and park on the north side of the park.  Look for the leader's red Kia Sportage with a bike rack.

 

Saturday, September 4th:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-17-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Prospect Park (44th & Robb) for a ride to Sloans Lake.  We will ride the Clear Creek Trail, as well as bike-friendly roads in Wheat Ridge to Sloans Lake where we will ride around the lake before taking a break.  We will return on 20th and 26th avenues to Crown Hill Park before riding through neighborhoods to the Clear Creek Trail and back to Prospect Park.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.


Sunday, September 5th:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-23 SW New Tunnel New Route Meet Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) at Broken Tee Golf Course (2101 W. Oxford, Englewood 80110) for a ride up Big Dry Creek to the Highline Canal. The canal is hard packed along this beautiful section of the trail that will have you humming Country Roads. I will be on my road bike, but a hybrid better. After a snack along the trail, we will go UNDER Hampden and Colorado Blvd. using the two new tunnels then 4 miles of downhill on Dartmouth and back. Picnic lunch after - food available for purchase at the golf course. 

 

Monday, September 6th: Labor Day

9:00AM FUN-H3-25-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Crown Hill Park (26th & Garrison) for a ride south to Alameda and then west to Morrison via Rooney Rd.  After a break we will return on Morrison Rd and the Bear Creek Trail to the Stone House and then north back to Crown Hill via Lakewood neighborhoods.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.


Tuesday, September 7th:

8:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2/3-26.6-W-+1325' elev.  "The INFINITY-to-INFINITUS Loop *Event*!"  MEET 08:00am, ROLL 08:15am.  Leader needs a head count pre-ride and it's important that riders TEXT RSVP to 303-905-8510.  Register by Sept. 6, 3pm.  Join Marilyn Choske at the Infinitus Pizza Pie rear parking lot, 5807 W. 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge.  From the Pie lot, we'll maneuver our way to Clear Creek Trail west to Golden and do a couple of climbs out there (Tucker, Hwy 6).  After we salute and pass the Taj Mahal structure, we'll enjoy a somewhat downhill spree back to Wheat Ridge.  Then it's another climb up to Crown Hill Park and tool around the lake over to 32nd Ave.  Pedal thru neighborhoods and back to Infinitus for a well-deserved artisan pizza and beverage. (Bicyclists get a free soft drink.  Our group riders can opt for a stronger brew at Happy Hour prices.  Thank You Matt, the Manager!)  This ride may feel infinite but there IS an Infinitus pizza pie awaiting you at the end!  Bring $ to enjoy lunch.  If you have a DBTC jersey, wear it--expect photos before and after our ride, and perhaps during lunch.  We may be "featured" on the restaurant's website!

9:00AM LEISURE H1-12++-SE Meet Dave Noble (home 303-694-200, 303-906-3163 cell) at the Parker Recreation Center (formerly the Challenger Recreation Center) off of Lincoln for an out and back ride of the Cherry Creek, and Sulphur Gulch trails.  This is a short ride, so after returning to the recreation center, we can ride north on the Cherry Creek trail as far as we'd like and then return.  Lunch will be afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

 

Wednesday, September 8th:

10:00 AM Windsor to Greeley H1-32 Join a NEW LEADER Janet Martel (jmartel98@gmail.com  303-929-5950) Frank State Natural Area.   From I25 north travel to Windsor exit.  Highway 392.  Travel east to Weld County Road 13.  Turn right (south) to the Parking area.  There might not be restrooms at this parking spot but there will be restrooms periodically along  the way, every 4-5 miles at trail side parks. General information.  This trail is paved the entire length.  There are occasionally short detours due to ongoing trail construction but most are open now.  We will ride east towards Greeley.  The entire one way distance is 21 miles but we will not ride that distance (42 round trip). Expect around 32 miles.  Very flat, very scenic. Please bring a snack/lunch as we will break at one of the many trailside parks for a break.  CARPOOL: Contact Janet to arrange carpooling/caravaning.


Thursday, September 9th:

9:00 FUN PLUS H-2-28 SW Meet Peter Woulfe(540-219-6674) cell at the west end of the parking lot for the Broken Tee Golf Course (2101 W. Oxford, Englewood 80110). We will ride the South Platte to Chatfield State Park, up the dam over to the marina then return. Bring a lunch for after the ride there is a shelter. 

10:30 AM, MTB, P1, T1.5, Flying J Ranch Park - Show’nGo.  Organized by Liz Cameron (303-619-7897).    The folks who show up decide what to ride.    Meet at the main trailhead (north lot). DIRECTIONS: From C-470 go south on US 285 approximately 12.5 miles to Aspen Park. Exit at Barkley Road and go left onto Barkley for a half-mile to County Road 73. Go right on County Road 73 for about three-fourths of a mile to the Flying J Ranch Park sign. Turn left into the park and travel a half-mile to the trailhead parking lot. Friday, September 10th:

8:30 AM Leisure-H1/H2 18-SW. Meet Jill McMahon (303 888-0314 cell) at Reynolds Landing for a ride south and west through Littleton on paved trails and quiet streets.  (Go west on Brewery Lane at Santa Fe Drive where there is a light.  Continue past the Breckenridge Brewery to the big parking lot at the end of the road on the right.) We will ride on the Platte Trail, through Columbine Valley, Clement Park, the Lilley Gulch Trail and the Dutch Creek Trail. This is a loop ride with an optional lunch afterwards.  Bring a snack and money for lunch if you plan to join us.

 

Saturday, September 11th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-18/23-NW PATRIOT DAY 20th Anniversary RIDE. Meet Jeff Krinsky(720-373-9107) to honor the 20th Anniversary of Patriot Day with a visit to the 9/11 Monument in Broomfield during THE SPACE, TIME, 9/11 RIDE or THE HIDDEN GEMS OF BROOMFIELD! It begins near the SE corner of Sheridan and 120th at the new Whole Foods in Westminster (1/2 mile east of Sheridan at Vrain and 120th. ADDRESS is 4451 Main Street.) We will take secret trails around Westminster and Broomfield where we will experience three incredible hidden displays including THE SOLAR SYSTEM, a brief history of GEOLOGIC COLORADO TIME, and most importantly, the 9/11 MONUMENT. (This ride has an escape option at the 18 mile marker for riders who run out of time and/or steam.) Enjoy a post ride patriotic lunch at Whole Foods. This adventure has received rave reviews with 4 and a half stars from the ride critics!

9:00 AM INT-H3-30 Join Donald Schmertz (roadrider80226@yahoo.com) at the restaurant formerly known as Davies' Chuck Wagon Diner. 10151 W. 26TH Avenue,  Wheat Ridge. Ride will go to Red Rocks and Golden. Ride will be 30 miles with some steep climbs. This will be a no drop regrouping Ride.

 

Sunday, September 12th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS H2-34-SE Meet Ellen Fitzpatrick (720-209-2269) at Arapahoe Trailhead (15200 East Arapahoe Road, Centennial), on the south side of Arapahoe Rd, just east of Jordan Road. We will ride out to and around Aurora Reservoir, going north on the South Cherry Creek Trail into the Cherry Creek State Park, then connecting to the Piney Creek Trail east. About 1000’ elevation gain. Bring snacks and water as the marina store may not be open.  Bring lunch and we’ll gather after the ride at the trailhead.


Monday, September 13th:

9:00AM FUN-H2-25-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Prospect Park (44th & Robb) for a ride through Olde Town Arvada to the Ralston Creek Trail.  We will then ride the Ralston Creek Trail to the west side of the Westwoods Golf Course for a break.  We will then return via Easley Rd and the Clear Creek Trail.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.


Tuesday September 14

9:00 AM LEISURE-H2-20-SW Meet Lin Hark (303-578-9369) at the Littleton Tennis Bubble for a ride through Littleton and Englewood. This ride is partly on streets, bike paths, and has some gravel paths. Wednesday, September 15th:

9:00 AM FUN-H1-2-23-NE BOOKS AND BIKES ADVENTURE REPRISE. Last time in 2021 for all you bookies out there to join the bikes and books ride! Meet Helen Berkman  (720-355-5687) at Cake Crumbs, 2216 Kearney St, for one more repeat of this popular city adventure ride to BookBar. All-new route, with a new greenway! an elevator ride! mountain views! and a bookshop! Our destination is the BookBar in Highlands, a charming bookstore with a garden you need to see if you’ve never been there. We’ll loop back on a three park route via Sloan’s Lake, Cheesman Park, and City Park. This will be a no-drop, slightly slower FUN ride, and we’ll spend up to a half-hour in BookBar or its neighborhood. Bring a pannier or daypack if you want to buy a book!

 

Thursday, September 16th:

9:30 AM LEISURE H2-10-SW Meet Richard Gieseler and Suzanne Gruba (303-946-8996) at the Mayhem Gulch Trailhead in Clear Creek Canyon on Hwy 6 west of Golden for a ride on the scenic Peaks to Plains paved trail along Clear Creek. Some longish hills with a bit of a grade. Mountain bike gears are good. Bring a snack for a picnic after or during the ride.  

 

Friday, September 17th:

8:00 AM INT-H3-17.7-W-+1350' elev.  "West Triple Loop with Eyes on Danish!"  MEET 08:00am   Register only via TEXT to leader by September 16.  Meet Marilyn Choske (303-905-8510), at Green Gables Park, enter from Garrison, located between Wisconsin & Florida.  Pedal south and west on bike-friendly streets and climb to Dinosaur saddle; descend and climb into Red Rocks Park; descend into Morrison; enter Bear Creek Park and climb Kumpfmiller Road to exit the Park on the east.  Then the fun begins:  take Morrison Road to Kipling Street and enjoy (maybe!) your final climb. Bring $ to reward yourself with a tasty pastry at Taste of Denmark.  Short return to cars.  Pace: 7-14mph depending on uphill steepness!

10:00 AM, MTB, P2.5, T2.5, Buffalo Creek Meet Steve Thomas (303-419-2531) for a ride on the Buffalo Creek Trails. The ride will be approx. 15 miles with some extended climbing and a few technical downhill areas.   Meet at the Buffalo Creek parking lot (18268 S Buffalo Creek Rd, Pine, CO 80470.)  THE DIRECTIONS: Go west on Hwy 285 past Conifer to Pine Valley Road. Go south on Pine Valley Road to the town of Pine. From Pine continues south about 3.3 miles to the turnoff, on the right, for the Buffalo Creek parking lot.  THE FOOD: Bring snacks, drinks, and chairs for after the ride.

 

Saturday, September 18th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-24-NW-(Elevation Gain = 1207 feet)  Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for THE GREAT TOTEM POLE RIDE AKA THE HIDDEN GEMS OF INTERLOCKEN! This exciting ride full of twists and turns uses portions of the new Hwy. 36 Trail to take us on a loop that includes the hidden gems of Flatirons Mall, Interlocken, Standley Lake, and Rock Creek Village! We will meet at the SE corner of the Rock Creek Village Safeway parking lot, which is centrally located in Superior at the NW corner of Coalton and Rock Creek Parkway (Address is 1601 Coalton Rd., Superior). This ride is now 99.99% on paved trails.  

 

Sunday, September 19th:

9:30 AM FUN PLUS-H2-28-SE Meet Ellen Fitzpatrick (720-209-2269) at the Broken Tee Golf course (2101 W. Oxford street, Englewood, just west of Santa Fe Dr.). Park far west end of parking lot, up against the bike path and Platte River, and meet there at the pavilion and bathroom area. We will ride out to and around Chatfield State Park via bike paths along the Platte, up to top of the dam, and continue across the dam clockwise toward the marina and back around. There’s a mile+ stretch of gravel on the dam to negotiate which can be difficult. Planning a 12-13 mph average pace. About 550’ elevation. Bring snacks and lunch and we’ll gather after for social time.


Monday, September 20th:

9:30AM FUN-H3-22-NW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Prospect Park (44th & Robb) for a ride west along the Clear Creek Trail to Easley Rd to the Arvada Reservoir.  We will ride a loop over the reservoir and back to the start via the same route.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.


Tuesday, September 21st:

9:00 AM LEISURE H1-16 NE Meet Dave Noble (home 303-694-2008, cell 303-906-3163) for a loop ride on the Farmer’s Highline, Signal Ditch, and Lee Lateral trails, and around Eastlake Park.  Meet at EB Rains Memorial Park.  (Directions from I-25 and 120th: East on 120th 1-2 streets to Grant, South on Grant 1/4-1/2 mile to park, meet in the parking lot on the south side of the lake.)  Lunch afterwards at a nearby restaurant.

9:00 AM, MTB, P3, T2, Kenosha Pass.  Meet Steve Thomas (303-419-2531) for a ride on the Colorado and West Jefferson Trails. The ride will be approx. 25 miles with extended climbing and a few technical downhill areas. Part of the ride will be above timberline with the high point at about 11,600 feet. The aspen leaves should be very yellow for the ride.  THE DIRECTIONS: Go west on Hwy 285 to Kenosha Pass, about 1.5 hour drive from Denver.   At the crest of the pass, park on the west (right) side of the highway along the road.  THE FOOD: Bring snacks and lunch for on the trail.   

 

Wednesday, September 22nd: BIKE TO WORK DAY! 

9:00 AM FUN-H1-23-W/NW-563' elev.  "Bike-to-Work Day!"  MEET 09:00am, ROLL 09:15am   Register only via TEXT to leader by September 21.  Meet Marilyn Choske (303-905-8510) and other DBTC’ers at the DBTC Bike-to-Work Day booth at Bannock Street between 14th Avenue and Colfax Avenue as the new location for our Bike to Work Day Station. Ride on all paved paths -- Highline Canal to Tollgate to Cherry Creek Spillway and loop back on Cherry Creek  Trail.  Hope to take the new Leetsdale underpass! Bring snacks for the ride.  Optional Lowry lunch afterwards. 


Friday, September 24

8:30 AM FUN-H2-28-NW-1100' elev gain. ARVADA ARROWHEAD! Meet 08:30am, Depart 8:45am.  Register only via TEXT to the leader by September 23.  Join Marilyn Choske (303-905-8510), at Anderson Park in Wheat Ridge, 44th & Field St., back parking lot near the big pavilion.  Ride an arrowhead-shaped loop around Arvada on bike paths and bike-friendly roads. 9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H3-21 NW (1541 ft of elevation gain) – HIDDEN GEMS OF GOLDEN!!Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) for this fairly new Hidden Gems adventure around beautiful Golden. We will meet at Lions Park at 10th and Maple in Golden and ride the Golden Circle and beyond to Heritage Park and other unexplored areas.  This ride has been improved each time that I lead it so I can now promise you a rose garden!!!.

NEW RIDE:

9:00 AM FUN-H2-25-SW Meet Janet Martel 303-929-5950 at  The Stone House Park.  2900 South Estes St.  Lakewood. Ride west on Bear Creek trail through Bear Creek Lake Park.  Join C470 trail south  to Bowles and Coal Mine.  East to join Lilly Gulch trail.  Continue to Platte River trail near Tennis Bubble.  North to Bear Creek and return to Stone House. No drop


Sunday, September 26th:

9:00 AM FUN PLUS-H2-25 +-NE  Each Sunday meet DBTC riders at Cake Crumbs Bakery and Coffee shop, located at 2216 Kearney Street, Denver. These rides will be Show N GO. Each Sunday we pick a different route and the distances vary from 20 to 30 miles.


Monday, September 27th:

9:30AM FUN-H2-23-SW Meet Merri Bruntz (303-517-9781) at Reynolds Landing parking lot (6745 S. Santa Fe Dr) for a ride south on the South Platte Trail to Chatfield State Park where we will ride to the marina via trails and road. After a break we will return via the same route.  Bring a sack lunch for a picnic afterwards.


Tuesday, September 28th:

8:00 AM LOOKOUT! -- The End-of-Season Final Lap--uh-oh!" INT-H3-26-W-+2600'  MEET 08:00; ROLL 08:15.  Register only via TEXT to the leader by September 23.  Join Marilyn Choske (303-905-8510) at the meet place described at end of description.   From our Golden meet place, access and pedal up Lookout Mountain Road.  From the top, continue over hilly terrain and spill out onto Hwy 40 east.  Turn right & ride towards Morrison on County Rd 93 and climb over Dinosaur Saddle and enjoy views.  Access and climb Rooney Road and ride paths & streets back to our cars, including a Starbucks beverage stop, compliments of DBTC, to celebrate your accomplishment!  Limit 8 riders, including leader.  Ride will not go if it is rainy or forecast for morning rain.  Call the leader if in doubt.  MEET PLACE directions:  Large Coors parking lot ACROSS Jackson Street from the American Mountaineering Center in Golden.  Lot boundaries are Ford/Jackson and 9th/10th Streets.  If you come in from Hwy 58, exit Washington St and go south to LEFT turn at 9th St, then RIGHT turn onto Jackson.  Enter LEFT from Jackson.  Please look at a map if you need visual verification.  DO NOT PARK in the AMC smaller parking lot!  Look for my red Kia Sportage w/bike rack.


Wednesday, September 29th:

9:00 AM LEISURE-H1-21-NW Niwot to Sandstone Ranch  Meet Marcy Rodney 720-985-3403 at the parking lot in front of the Garden Gate Cafe, 7960 Niwot Rd.  We will ride from Niwot, out the Lobo Trail to the Left Hand and St. Vrain Greenways in Longmont, past farm fields and wetlands till we reach the gracious 19th century Sandstone Ranch.  There are no amenities at the turnaround point, but it’s a lovely spot for a picnic style break, so come prepared with your snack.  We will ride paved paths, packed gravel, and some short quiet roads. Optional outdoor lunch at a local restaurant back in Niwot.

Friday, October 1st

9:30 AM FUN PLUS–H3–21-NW - Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) THE HIDDEN GEMS OF LOUISVILLE!!! (Elevation Gain = 1225 feet) This exciting ride full of twists and turns uses the newest portion of the HWY 36 trail that goes west from Interlocken into Boulder then loops back through Louisville and Superior using some interesting secret trails including the Double Lombard Street Experience and the famous Black Hole of Louisville! See you at the SW corner of the Safeway parking lot at the Rock Creek village Shopping Center in Superior for this tour of the trails of Superior, Louisville, and South Boulder (with a few roads mixed in as required). Rock Creek village is centrally located in Superior at the NW corner of Coalton and Rock Creek Parkway (Address is 1601 Coalton Road Superior, CO. 80027.)


Saturday, October 2nd:

CARAMEL APPLE RIDES!

Lunch at Ruby Hill Park from 11:30-12:30 . 1200 W Florida Ave, Denver, CO 80223 (shelters at the top of the hill just off Sanderson Gulch Trail – turn in at Florida and Osage OR at W. Mexico Ave. parking lot and go up the hill to the shelters. Do not enter at Levitt Pavilion).

7:30 AM FUN PLUS PLUS-H2-66 miles NW Meet in Lyon’s Park in Golden Now that it has cooled off, let’s start the fall off right with the METRIC CENTURY 2021 EXPERIENCE!!! Meet Jeff Krinsky (720-373-9107) at Lion’s Park in Golden and we will ride the loop counter clockwise by going south through Colo. School of Mines to Hwy. 93 & 19th St. to the C-470 trail south to Chatfield Reservoir east to the Platte River trail and north to Ruby Hill. After we partake in the picnic we will then continue north on the Platte River Trail to Clear Creek Trail where we will go west back to Lions Park in Golden, Strategic breaks will be located throughout the ride with primary stops at the Morrison Phillips 66, Hudson Gardens, REI, and of course the picnic at Ruby Hill.

8:30 FUN PLUS H-2-26 SW Meet Peter Woulfe (540-219-6674). We will ride from Ruby Hill Park to the South Platte up Dartmouth Ave. to Eisenhower Park then ride the Highline canal to Big Dry Creek then return on the South Platte. Limit: 10 riders.

Please arrive at 8:45 for a prompt start at 9.

9:00 AM LEISURE H1/H2-16-SW. Meet Sue Walters (cell 720 989-4904) for a Loop ride from Ruby Hill Park west on the Sanderson Gulch Trail to Tennyson where we will go South by Harvey Park and then west on Yale. That will take us to the Stone House where we will connect with the Bear Creek Trail. We will go east to the Platte Trail and back to Ruby Hill Park. Please arrive at 8:45 for a prompt start at 9.

9:00 AM From Ruby Hill FUN-H2-19-NW +464 Join Patty Gaspar (303-618-5069) for an easy loop on the Platte River Trail to Sloans Lake (okay, you do have wind through Mile High then ride out 23rd Ave in the bike lane). We’ll come back on Lakewood Gulch trail.

9:00 AM Meet at Crown Hill FUN-H2-26-NW- +998’ “CARAMEL APPLE PICNIC Loop Ride” MEET 09:00; ROLL 09:15. Register via TEXT to leader by October 1. Take a bite out of this ride and join Marilyn Choske (text - 303-905-8510), at Crown Hill Park (26th & Garland) for this “Ruby Apple” twist on a DBTC picnic ride. We’ll do a little westside warmup from Crown Hill Park in Wheat Ridge on bike- friendly streets and paths and then aim ourselves in a southeasterly direction to access the Weir and Sanderson gulch trails that will place us at Ruby Hill Park for the DBTC Caramel Apple Picnic festivities. After lunching and munching, resume our northbound loop riding on the Platte River Trail, then head west to our starting point and exercise a little caloric burn on slight uphills! We’ve got miles and elevation numbers, but we’ll take it easy at 10-14 mph pace. Bring a mask just in case.

10:30 AM (or whatever you prefer), MTB, P2, T1, Ruby Hill Park. Before the Caramel Apple Picnic, take a couple laps around the park. Ruby Hill has a 1.7 mile mountain bike trail designed with rollers, banks, rocky sections, even a couple of switchbacks. Also check out the bike park (if it is not too busy) at the south end of Ruby Hill. This is not a lead ride or even a Show and Go. Just hop on your bike and go! Park at the designated lot for the picnic. To go to the picnic you must sign up by September 29th at DBTC.ORG.
