DBTC Ride with GPS Crib Sheet Creating a New Route These instructions serve as a guide to using the Ride with GPS (RWGPS) application. More information can be obtained at the RWGPS Help web page: https://ridewithgps.com/help/. ANDROID device: 1. Create a free RWGPS account and then request membership to the DBTC RWGPS club account. 2. Download the RWGPS application into a cell phone (either Android or Apple). You do not need a voice/data connection. All you will need are the Wifi and GPS functions of the cell phone. A waterproof, unlocked cell phone is perfect. 3. At the start of the ride, select the RWGPS app. 4. Your app home page should be displayed with “Go Ride” at the bottom. Press “Go Ride” and begin your ride. 5. As you ride, your ride information will be recorded by RWGPS. You must have GPS turned on in order for the ride to be recorded. Note that recording will pause if you stop your ride. You may restart at any time. 6. Once you have completed your ride, long press the “Pause” button at the bottom of the display. 7. Press “Finish Ride” and give your ride a name. 8. Press “SAVE” in the upper right 9. The ride will be saved on your mobile device. 10. Any ride you record will be uploaded to your RWGPS account as soon as you have an internet connection. The ride will appear in the “Routes & Rides” tab on your home page. Note: If you wish to view a map on the device while riding, you may consider turning on the Handelbar mode (Android only). This feature allows the app to turn the screen on without having to unlock your device while navigating. Keeping the screen off as much as possible is a huge battery saver. Screen On for Cues: The screen will turn on when nearing a turn. It will turn off automatically depending on your system setting. Keep Screen On: You can set it to Never, Only when Navigating, or Always On. Keeping the screen on all the time will drain the most battery power. Lock Orientation: By default, the app will automatically rotate. This option will lock it in either Portrait or Landscape mode. iPHONE device: The steps listed above are for an Android device. If you have an Iphone, there will be some minor differences.
