DBTC Ride with GPS Crib Sheet Navigating a Pre-Recorded Route These instructions serve as a guide to using the Ride with GPS (RWGPS) application. More information can be obtained at the RWGPS Help web page: https://ridewithgps.com/help/. Download the route you are interested in in the comfort of your home and not at the start of the ride. ANDROID device: 1. Create a free RWGPS account and then request membership to the DBTC RWGPS club account. 2. Download the RWGPS application into a cell phone (either Android or Apple). You do not need a voice/data connection. All you will need are the Wifi and GPS functions of the cell phone. A waterproof, unlocked cell phone is perfect. A single earbud works great for listening to the turn by turn navigations. We recommend that you do not plug both earbuds into your ears while riding your bike. 3. Connect the cell phone to the internet. 4. Select the RWGPS app. 5. Press the three bars button – upper left corner of the RWGPS app. 6. Select Organizations, Denver Bicycling Touring Club. 7. Select Organization Routes. 8. Find the route you are interested in and select it. 9. Press the “Download” button. 10. You will be taken to the downloaded routes display. 11. Once the route has been downloaded, you can anytime find the route by selecting the three bars (upper left of RWGPS app home page) and then select “Available Offline”. 12. Once the route is selected, press “Navigate” to begin the route navigation. In order to save battery life, be sure that the Wifi function is turned off. Also, minimizing the use of the display during the ride goes a long way in extending the battery. 13. Begin your ride and listen for audible cues. 14. Stop the RWGPS app by long pressing the “Pause” button at the bottom of the screen. 15. It is important to note that the RWGPS is recording your ride as you are following the route. You have the ability to save your ride by pressing “Finish Navigation” and naming the recorded ride. If you do not want to save the recorded ride, press “DELETE” and then press “OK”. iPHONE device: 1. Steps 1-4 are the same
